Rohan Bopanna was born on the 4th of March in the year 1980 to Mallika Bopanna and M G Bopanna. Hailing from the district of Kodagu in Karnataka, which is famous for producing athletes, Rohan took to Tennis at the age of 11. At the time Rohan continued to play other sports such as hockey and football until the age of 19 when he decided to focus his attention completely on becoming a professional tennis player.
Rohan is considered among the finest tennis players in India. His powerful serve coupled with his huge on court presence has made him one of the most coveted doubles players on the international tennis circuit.
A global doubles phenomenon, ranked as high as No.3 in the world; Olympic, Davis Cup and Hopman Cup team member for India; and a recognised Champion For Peace are titles that define the champion tennis player. Rohan has won the 2017 French Open Mixed Doubles title, 16 ATP Tour doubles titles and has consistently ranked within the Top 15 in the world.
Committed to making a difference, Rohan is also actively involved with multiple causes. His philanthropic ventures include raising funds for an Opportunity School in Coorg and the Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences. In addition, he is the brand ambassador for GoSports Foundation, a non-profit that supports budding sports-persons in the country, with whom he works towards building environments for excellence in sport.
